| press A Christmas Tale ‘Directly through the hearts of people and into my wallet!’ is Klaus Krischeck’s motto. In his ‘Christmas Wonderland’ you can find everything to get the cash registers singing around the festive season, from tinsel to carolling Father Christmases. On Christmas Day, of all days, he has a new product idea: ‘Dickens compact’. Despite their well deserved holiday about to begin, Krischeck coerces his underpaid employees, Brackmann and Thiel, to recite the story of the unscrupulous Scrooge and his miraculous metamorphosis. But, unexpectedly, the characters of the tale get too close for comfort for the selfish and heartless moneygrubber Krischeck. As announced by the ghostly Marley when the clocks strike twelve, Krischeck experiences a haunting trip through his own life: first as a little boy, spellbound by the Christmas market; later, as an uninvited guest, observing the spooky Christmas dinner of his troubled employees; and finally, the unexpected meeting with his forgotten love, leading to a shocking insight into his own future. With modern and gripping images, Theater Triebwerk and Jan Pusch tell the tale of one man’s transformation from mean loner to happy samaritan, giving a lively interpretation of Charles Dickens’ famous ‘A Christmas Carol’. With Michael Habelitz, Uwe Schade, Wobine Bosch Direction: Jan Pusch Music: Uwe Schade (Cello) Design: Antoni Knigge A Theater Triebwerk production at Hamburger Kammerspiele 2006 |
